Mandarin Café, Hue falls in the bunch of 'whole in the wall' restaurants that dot the city. The Mandarin Cafe comes with high recommendation in Lonely Planet and once you taste the food there, you will understand why. This friendly, unassuming café is the centre of Hue's backpacker trade and serves up cheap, excellent Vietnamese and Western fare, and also hosts Sinh Cafe's booking desk, which can assist with boat trips, car/bike hire, and tour information.
The café is in a busy storefront a short walk from the riverside (near the Saigon Morin), Mandarin and is always bustling with young backpackers, in the café for good, affordable Vietnamese fare, predominantly one-dish items like fried rice or noodles on top of a roster of comfort foods.
It is a good place to catch a casual meal and strike up some conversation with fellow travelers.
